FBI investigating hack into its wiretap and surveillance systems: Report


Hackers have reportedly breached the FBI’s network.

Thursday, citing an anonymous source, CNN reported that the breach affected the system used to monitor wiretaps and foreign espionage warrants.

“The FBI has identified and addressed suspicious activity on the FBI’s network, and we have used all available resources to respond,” a spokesperson for the bureau told TechCrunch, declining to provide further details.

This is the latest major breach of US government agencies and American companies in recent times. Last year, Chinese hackers broke it at the US Treasury and National Nuclear Security Administrationwhich oversees the security of US nuclear weapons. All the while, Russian hackers steal printed documents from the US Courts’ falling system. Also, Elon Musk’s DOGE took control of American personal data, challenging long-standing security practices and violation of federal lawthough senator’s warning that Musk poses a national security threat.

Meanwhile, China’s government-run Salt Typhoon smuggling group has infiltrated at least 200 US companies, according to the FBI. Some of the companies that have been confirmed to have been hacked are telecommunications providers AT&T and Verizonalso Lumeni, Charter Communications, and Windstream.
