By Rotation, one of the UK’s most popular fashion rental platforms, announced on Wednesday a partnership with ride-sharing app Uber.
From now until May 31, By Rotation UK users can rent clothes from their neighbors and deliver them via Uber within 60 minutes with a 10% discount. Although the discount applies to all users, the service is offered to those who rent ski equipment. Author Rotation said 30% of ski rentals on the platform are looking for same-day pickups, and the partnership aims to reduce the frustration of renting large, expensive gear and driving it.
The deal is exciting and timely. In the past, By Rotation has partnered with Airbnb to offer wedding dress rentals to guests attending destination weddings. That was something else creative partnership who wanted to meet consumers where they are. Currently, ski clothing has become a fashion icon on the Internet as a sport still popular entertainment throughout Europe.
Eshita Kabra-Davies, founder and CEO of By Rotation, told TechCrunch that the partnership came from “listening to our community,” and that the company realized that, while consumers love the convenience of rental clothing, they also want “the speed and convenience of e-commerce.”
“It’s one of the four rental units that were made within 48 hours of the event, so the arrangement was the last,” he said. He called this “emergency wealth,” or a period of “horror panic” when someone realized they needed an outfit right away. Usually, when this time comes, a person has to rush to buy a “fear” to buy a new dress. “We wanted to change that behavior by removing the one thing that’s standing in the way – transportation,” Kabra-Davies said.
Partnering with Uber will move consumers from “fast fashion” to “slow fashion,” he said. Fashion is still one of many polluting industries in the world. As a result, the sharing economy – or circular economy –it has become popular among young people looking for sustainable, and affordable, ways to buy clothes.
When users who rent in their area go to the rate page, they will be advised via a pop-up banner to use Uber Courier, where the By Rotation discount will only be applied.

“It gives our community a choice; now they can protect a high-quality, valuable piece of clothing from a junkyard, because it can reach their doorstep quickly,” continued Kabra-Davies.
Kabra-Davies was founded by Rotation in 2019 and has grown to become one of the world’s largest peer-to-peer lending platforms. The platform has more than 1 million users (like singer Ellie Goulding), he said, and manages assets worth more than $100 million. With this, the company has grown beyond being a fashion rental, Kabra-Davies said.
“A powerful example is one of our borrowers who used her savings to buy clothes her IVF journeywhich has resulted in a successful childbirth.” Next, the company hopes to continue building “the world’s largest shared directory.” It’s already was founded in New York and his eyes are on the UAE. “Our ambitions, like Uber, are global,” Kabra-Davies said. “We want to make ‘circular clothing’ a way to use it everywhere.
