Representative Eric SwalwellThe Democrat who represents California’s 14th Congressional District is dealing with allegations that he sexually assaulted and harassed numerous women, including former colleagues, while in office.
The 45-year-old congressman said in a statement: “Today, a lot has been said about me through anonymous accusations. I think it is important that I am seen directly and my voice is heard.” Videos shared via social media Friday, April 10th. “These sexual assault allegations are completely false. They are absolutely false. They did not happen. They never happened. I will fight them with all my might.
He continued, “They also came on the eve of an election when I was the leading candidate for governor of California. I’m not in any way suggesting to you that I’m perfect or that I’m a saint — I’ve certainly made errors of judgment in the past, but they were between my wife and I. To her, I deeply apologize for getting her into this potion.” (Swalwell has three children with his wife, Nelson, Cricket, and Hank, Brittany Watts.)
Four women have accused Swalwell of sexual misconduct, including one former staffer who accused the politician of raping her, according to one woman. CNN Investigation Published on Friday. According to CNN, while most of the women chose to remain anonymous out of fear of “retaliation from Swalwell or the professional consequences of speaking out against him,” one woman – Ellie Sammarco —put her accusations on record.
“My wife’s name is Ellie Samarco,” the woman’s husband, Adam Parkhomenkowrote via Twitter, responding to Swalwell’s video. “Obviously you knew this, but she wasn’t anonymous. She also went on record with CNN in the hope that this wouldn’t happen to other women and maybe it would help other women come forward. She also provided CNN with all the information you sent her. I’ve been very supportive of you over the years, but even I’ve learned a lot today. And she has my full support.”

Getty ImagesIn Friday’s video, Swalwell went on to apologize to anyone who might have “questioned” their support of the congressman during his run for California governor.
“I think you know who I am,” he added. “For more than 20 years, I have served the public by representing victims, particularly victims of sexual assault, in court as a city councilor, as a member of Congress and as a prosecutor. This is who I am and always has been.”
He concluded: “I will be spending time with family and friends this weekend and I am grateful to those who have shown me their support. I look forward to updating you as soon as possible.
In addition to vehemently denying the women’s claims, Swalwell threatened legal action, CNN reported. He has reportedly issued cease-and-desist orders to some of his accusers.
Many prominent members of the Democratic Party, including Nancy Pelosi and House Minority Leader Hakeem JeffriesSwalwell was called upon to withdraw his gubernatorial campaign following the accusations.
