After two very public breakups, Cameron admitted she has re-evaluated what she shares with the public about her love life.
“It’s not that I feel differently about these people or anything like that, it’s just a different level of maturity when you’re dating someone in your 20s. You want everyone to know your love story,” she told Entertainment Tonight in October 2021. “I look back now and I think, ‘Why did I do that?’ But when you get to that age, it feels natural.”

Cameron and David attended the Cameron Boyce Foundation’s annual Cam For a Cause Gala on June 2 at The Beehive in Los Angeles. Boyce is Cameron’s son Descendants Until his death in 2019 (due to an epileptic seizure) at the age of 20.
That same month, Cameron provided more details about how she and David first met, and the reality that the beginning of their romance seemed “hot and heavy.”
“The first time was at the 2022 VMA Awards, when his band and I both won the same award,” she recalled in the interview metropolis. “A few months later, their team contacted me about being on their album release, but I couldn’t put a date down, but I was like, ‘Oh, that’s great that they thought of me. We’ve only met once.’ At one point, the band and I had been thinking about collaborating. They had recorded something, so I went in, and I recorded that track.”
At the 2023 VMA Awards, she and David were in “a very different space” and their relationship began to flourish.
“We’ve all been in situations in the past where we’ve been severely hurt, and we’re both very sensitive people,” she explains. “I think when we met we were not looking, we were just investigating… very, very slowly, cautiously, tentatively.”
