DoorDash appears to have confirmed a viral story about a driver who used an AI-generated image to lie about a delivery.
Like by NexusstarAustin resident Byrne Hobart said he experienced this, he writes in the post on X: “Amazing. The DoorDash driver received the car, immediately marked it as delivered, and delivered an AI-generated image of the DoorDash system (left) to our front door (right).”
After his post started getting traction, Hobart offered moreadmitting that his story will be “easy” to lie. But he added, “Someone just said the same thing happened to him in Austin, with the same driver’s name.”
As for how the driver pulled it off, Hobart speculates that he used a stolen account on a jailbroken phone, getting a photo of his front door through DoorDash that shows photos that have already been posted.
A spokesperson for DoorDash told TechCrunch, “After a quick investigation of what happened, our team deleted Dasher’s account and ensured that the customer was properly processed.
