Disney+ is introducing short films this year

Following the success of TikTok and Instagram Reels, Disney he announced that it is bringing short videos to Disney + in the US this year to promote daily activities. Disney made the announcement at its Tech + Data Showcase event at CES 2026.

The company said in a blog post that “it will evolve as it expands on news and entertainment and delivers a personalized, powerful experience that solidifies Disney+ as a must-visit every day.”

Said Disney Deadline that these videos may contain short material, reruns, television shows or movies, or a combination thereof.

“Obviously we’re thinking about integrating vertical video in ways that start with user behavior,” Erin Teague, EVP of Product Management for Disney Entertainment and ESPN, told Deadline. “So, it’s not like a random, random experience.”

The move comes as Disney launched a standalone video in ESPN programming last year.

By introducing short videos to Disney +, the company is targeting young users who are used to watching videos quickly on their phones instead of like TV shows and movies.

Disney+ isn’t the first to pursue standalone video, either Netflix has launched a standalone feed last year that allows users to scroll through images from its original themes.
