He then had a falling out with his daughter, was accused of a patient letting his emotional problems interfere with his work, received another formal complaint and was considering another job after a dispute with Goodwin.
Dr. Charles eventually suffered from blurred vision and hallucinations from his childhood. The final scene shows him lying on the ground taking a breather, leaving both his health and future on the show unclear. Fans have pointed out that the trailer for next week’s episode suggests Dr. Charles suffered a stroke, but it has not yet been confirmed whether he died.

“Actors come in, actors go out,” Bader told TVLine in an interview published in July 2024. “It’s funny. Because every year the cast changes, and every year the same questions are asked about what’s going on in the same Chicago universe. But (these shows) just keep going.”
Bader noted that Chicago continues to have success with every performance, adding, “We are very excited about how Chicago performed on Wednesday. We have no plans to change anything about the night.”
