But what I find personally, especially with my kids: use it for the right reasons.”
He continued, “I’ve been able to use my platform to serve my followers, UNICEF. It’s the greatest tool to educate people about children’s issues around the world. I try to do the same with my kids, educate them. They’re going to make mistakes. Kids are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn. So, that’s what I try to teach my kids, but sometimes you have to let them make those mistakes, too.”
Earlier in the segment, the former professional footballer was specifically asked if he thought it was “easier” to suffer headlines about himself in the UK or the US affecting his mental health.
“I’m going to have to be on the fence, I love living in both places,” he noted. “I love my country. I love where I grew up, but I’ve always wanted to live in the United States, and I love the United States. … I’m lucky that I get to spend a lot of time in both places.”
David’s comments come shortly after Brooklyn, 26, posted a lengthy statement on Instagram About his family’s ongoing feud.
“I have remained silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team continue to turn to the media, leaving me no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about some of the lies that have been reported,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. “I don’t want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled and I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”

“Performative social media posts, family incidents and inauthentic relationships have been a part of my life since I was born. Recently, I have witnessed firsthand the countless lies they tell in the media to protect their image, mostly at the expense of innocent people,” he claimed. “But I believe the truth will eventually come out.”
Brooklyn questioned his family’s alleged decision to value “publicity and recognition above all else.”
“The Beckham brand comes first. The ‘love’ of a family is determined by how many times you post on social media or how quickly you drop everything to appear in a family photo, even if it’s at the expense of our professional obligations,” he continued. “For years, we went out of our way to show up and support at every fashion show, every party, and every press event to show ‘our perfect family!’ But one time, my wife asked my mom for support in rescuing displaced dogs during the Los Angeles fires, and my mom refused.”
Brooklyn claimed in a statement that he had “Controlled” by parents “most of” his life.
“I grew up with tremendous anxiety,” he concludes. “For the first time in my life since leaving my family, this anxiety is gone. Every morning I wake up grateful for the life I have chosen and find peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life influenced by image, media or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”
David and Victoria, 51, Has not spoken publicly yet Brooklyn took a direct stance.
Brooklyn and Nicola, 31, initially sparked rumors that they were feuding with other family members after skipping David’s birthday party in March 2025. However, speculation about a feud originally began a few years ago, following Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding in 2022 (which David addressed in his statement on Monday).
Before coming to public attention, David posted a post on Father’s Day expressing his gratitude for his children.
“My most important and favorite job in life is being a dad,” David wrote in a June 2025 post, tagging the Instagram accounts of sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. “I’m so proud of all of you, and like Dad (sorry, kids) tells you every day, no matter what happens, I will always be there for you. Mom, thank you for doing the most important part of making me a dad. There is no greater gift in life than letting me be a dad. Happy Father’s Day. I love you kids more than you can imagine.”
Meanwhile, Victoria described her husband as the “best dad” to her four children in her own post, writing: “You always lead with love and our four beautiful children are a reflection of that. We all love you so much!!”
