Cash App adds payment links so you can get paid in DM

It’s easy to use the Cash App. However, on Wednesday, the payment platform Block, Inc. introduced a new feature designed to make it easier for users: paid links.

This feature allows app users to send money through hyperlinks that can be linked to various messages.

Users can connect to the links by following the steps in the Cash App payment, but instead of clicking “add recipient,” the user now has the option to click “share link.” Selecting this option creates a link that can later be added to posts, emails, and DMs as a payment request. The recipient clicks on the link, which also fills in the requested amount, allowing the transaction to be completed quickly.

Cash App says these links can be used for recurring payments and group payments.

Cash App launched the new feature after surveying Gen-Z users and finding that it was common for multiple messages to be sent through a payment process. These links are designed to minimize any inconvenience that may accompany these communications and direct payments.

“The payment link makes the money flow more efficient, but more importantly, it makes the process of requesting money more human and effortless,” said Kristen Anderson, P2P & Networks Product Lead at Cash App. “We’ve heard from our customers that sending in-app payment requests with questionable information can sometimes come off as overly rude or aggressive. Payments solves this problem by allowing customers to send requests through any platform that feels natural to add context, interest, or humor to the conversation.”

Cash App has added several features recently, including and AI chatbots which started at the end of last year and is designed to advise users on their finances, as well as a new benefit program with higher lending limits.
