Can a social media app fix the ‘catastrophic collapse’ of social media?

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and Pinterest co-founder Evan Sharp have raised new funds for their social media startup. West Co.

Introduction established an invitation-only system of his first show, Tangle, in November. Now the Financial Times has they put together a lot from commentaries by Stone and Sharp, and from legal texts and lists of works.

The company has reportedly raised $29 million, with Spark Capital leading its seed.

Sharp – the head of the company – described West Co as emerging from the question, “What can I do that will help to overcome the terrible destruction of the human mind and heart that we have been doing for the last 15 years?”

The answer, at least how it started, is an app that asks users, “What do you want today?” Users can share their goals with friends, hopefully helping them “plan with purpose, capture the reality of their days, and see the deeper things that shape their lives.”

Stone told the FT that the program could change significantly before it goes to the public.
