Brigitte Bardot‘s eponymous foundation spotlighted the iconic French actress’s promotional efforts in a matter of hours before her death.
“SOS Adoption. 😂 Give 2-year-old Urphé a chance! This adorable young Doberman is named Urphé. He’s two and a half years old,” a post from the Brigitte Bardot Foundation on Saturday, December 27 Instagram The account has been read. “After her owner moved to a nursing home, Urphé was placed in a boarding kennel for a year before being donated to the Brigitte Bardot Foundation and joining one of our shelters.”
The statement continued: “He is a very sweet dog, very people-oriented, very affectionate and very playful. He needs to experience life because the kennel is all he has ever known. We are issuing a distress call for Urphé today. … The foundation is urgently looking for a family to give a dog whose health has deteriorated a chance. It breaks our hearts to learn of his diagnosis, which is why we are issuing this appeal today.”
Social media messages further revealed that foundation staff have become “attached” to Urphé.
“We are heartbroken to learn that (dogs) have this disease,” the caption said. “If these messages resonate with you, please adopt Urfie as soon as possible for his sake.”
Bardot’s non-profit organization announced her death A few hours later, 91 years old.
On Sunday, December 28, “The Brigitte Bardot Foundation announces with great sadness the death of its founder and president, internationally renowned actress and singer Dame Brigitte Bardot, who chose to give up her prestigious career to devote her life and energy to animal protection and the Foundation.” Instagram Statement read. “She helped make the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, established in 1986, a major (force) for animal protection in France and around the world.”
The statement added: “The Brigitte Bardot Foundation would like to pay tribute to an extraordinary woman who gave everything and gave up everything for a world with greater respect for animals. Her legacy lives on through the actions and struggles of the Foundation with the same passion and loyalty to its ideals.”

Their statement concluded: “The Foundation will continue to carry Brigitte Bardot’s work more than ever.”
Although the cause of death has not yet been determined, Bardot was hospitalized earlier this year. A French newspaper reported in October that the actress underwent surgery Suffered an undisclosed serious illness but has since recovered.
Bardot was previously hospitalized in 2023 with apparent respiratory problems.
“(Her breathing) was more intense than usual, but she didn’t lose consciousness,” her husband, Bernard Dormertell the French varmorgen newspapers of the time. “Let’s call it a moment of distracted breathing. Like all people of a certain age, she couldn’t stand the heat anymore. This happened at the age of 88. She must not be doing wasted work.”
Bardot is survived by Dormer, her son Nicolas, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
