Captain Jason Chambers Opens up about why he thinks Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher more suitable Ben Robinson – instead of alum Elsa Scott —During Season 4 below deck.
“[Daisy and Ben]are always on the go. They don’t stop,” Jason exclusively told US Weekly. “That’s why I think people like Kate Chastain are so strong. Hannah Ferrier was so strong in the beginning — especially with Ben. I don’t know if Elsa (Scott) would have handled it (the same way).”

“My big challenge in the kitchen this season (has to do with Ben),” Daisy told EXCLUSIVELY US Weekly before the show returned earlier this season. “Ben is fun to work with. He’s really funny, he has a great personality, and he’s great television. But he’s definitely a challenge.”
Daisy admits there are similarities between her and Ben.
“Maybe we’re both just as stubborn as each other,” she points out. “(Our problem) is all those things. It’s the cabin, it’s the way he manages the team and the way he runs the kitchen. There are difficulties with communication – so timing and not envisioning service in the same way. There are a lot of difficulties and challenges, to be honest.”
Despite their issues, Daisy said Ben is a “difficult person to be angry with,” adding, “But neither of us wants to be hostile, and I think both of us really want to provide the best for our guests. Since that’s our primary focus, we’re always able to come back to that and say, ‘Okay, look, we like each other. We have the same goals. How can we make that happen?'”
Over the years, Bravo viewers have seen the cast of Below Deck Med come and go — but not before they brought the show to the small screen. She continued: “But I think towards the end of the season I became frustrated. We had some conflicts and there were definitely some arguments. It was difficult because I was trying to do a good job – just like him. Everything was a challenge, honestly.”

“The battles that we’ve seen in previous seasons are different than this one. That’s what viewers are going to love now and I’m really starting to see how it’s going to unfold. I’m just seeing it with all of you. But the truth is, what’s going on are real personality and work-related issues that need to be addressed,” Jason shared. “It’s a really raw thing, working in such a closed environment. It’s not just pointless arguments about silly topics. It’s just the crew – not just the department heads. There’s more going on than them, but it’s actually challenging drama that’s important or poignant to actually operating a ship.”
