After 16 years in power, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has conceded defeat in Hungary’s elections, which put the opposition on course for a landslide victory.

Péter Magyar is set to become the country’s new prime minister following record voting results in an election seen as crucial to the future of Hungary and Europe.

With two-thirds of the votes counted, Magyar’s party will win an overwhelming majority of seats in parliament. Counting of votes will continue in the coming days.
