On December 22, Manilow disclosed his lung cancer diagnosis and confirmed that he would undergo surgery soon.

“As many of you know, I recently experienced six weeks of bronchitis, followed by a five-week relapse. Even though I’m out of bronchitis and back on stage at Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI to make sure everything was okay,” he shared on Instagram. “The MRI found a cancerous spot in my left lung that needed to be removed. Finding it so early was pure luck (and a great doctor). This is great news.”

The “Can’t Smile Without You” singer explained that he needed to complete his annual Christmas concert in December before scheduling a date to “remove the spot.”

“The doctors don’t believe it has spread, and I’m doing tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and i love lucy Replay,” he wrote.

The singer-songwriter announced that he would need “a month to recover” from the surgery, so he canceled scheduled concerts in January. (Manillo will headline shows this month in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Ohio.)

“I’m sorry you had to change your plans,” he wrote to fans. “Just like you, we are all looking forward to the show in January and hate having to move everything.”

Looking ahead, Manilow said he plans to return to the stage for Valentine’s Day weekend concerts at the Westgate in Las Vegas from February 12-14.

“Something tells me February weekend is going to be one big party!” Manilow concluded. “I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Remember, if you have even the slightest symptoms…get tested! See you at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas on Valentine’s Day!”
