Apple will update its software development platform with 100 new metrics, more tools

There are big news today for software developers. No, it’s not downloaded apps from the App Store. Instead, Apple Wednesday he announced The biggest change to its App Store Connect service, which is where developers publish, manage, and track the performance of their apps across all of the company’s platforms.

These updates bring more than 100 new metrics to track across areas such as monetization and subscription data, as well as others designed to help app developers better understand their in-app purchases and how their ads are getting results.

There are already several third-party services that provide an overview of app performance, including app intelligence platforms, such as Sensor Tower and Appfigures, as well as those offered to subscription app developers, such as RevenueCat. However, the advantage of the new App Store Connect metrics is that they are only based on Apple’s own data – not estimates.

Among the additions are new subscription reports that can also be sent via an API, allowing developers to monitor the performance of their apps when they are offline, or to import Apple data into their systems.

Developers will also be able to learn more about users by analyzing their behavior on things like download date, source, launch date, and more. With this, developers will be able to see how a certain group of users use the app in a short period of time, such as growth in one region compared to another, for example.

There are also new peer group benchmarks that allow developers to see how they compare to their competition in terms of paid downloads and download earnings.

Apple says it uses aggregated data to protect user privacy, and uses other privacy measures to protect the functionality of each developer.

When developers view selected metrics in App Store Connect, they can take advantage of new filters to add more detail to their data. Apple says developers can use up to seven filters at once.

In addition, the company has released new products Guide to App Store Analytics in the App Store Connect Help section to help developers create data-driven strategies and better understand the tools and features of the App Store.

Despite the controversy, App Store Connect was supposed to be updated, the timing of this release is worth noting. As AI becomes more capable – especially among AI assistants who can act on behalf of users – there is some talk that the modern store model will become a thing of the past. The CEO of the smartphone maker has nothing to say recently smartphone apps will eventually disappearfor example, when the Internet is filled with AI agents.

Apple, however, is trying to create a way in which AI enhances its profitable App Store ecosystem, rather than destroys it. Per Bloombergthe company plans to announce Siri powered by AI at the upcoming developer conference in June, which can complete tasks within apps.
