Apple is working on making CarPlay compatible with AI chatbots like ChatGPT

Apple CarPlay users will soon be able to talk to their favorite AI chatbot.

Apple is reportedly working on how to support AI chatbot software within CarPlay, according to Bloombergwhich specifies an unknown location.

Apple CarPlay is an app that runs on the iPhone and connects wirelessly to the car’s infotainment system. It creates some apps that are available on the user’s phone for car infotainment. Drivers can interact with these apps, including Apple Music, messaging, and navigation, through the voice assistant Siri.

The next generation of Apple CarPlay Ultra goes even further, including a central display and a digital dashboard in front of the driver, and gives users the control of other vehicles.

This latest move would bring Google’s Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT into the car, and risk putting its Siri assistant in the back seat.
