Pitt’s article details what she was told her diagnosis “Last autumn” she had a “routine scan” to check the health of her breasts. “For years, people have told me that my breasts were ‘dense’ and ‘busy’ — which was not a compliment, but a warning that they needed extra monitoring,” she wrote before revealing that her doctor “didn’t like the way it looked on the ultrasound.”

An MRI showed the second mass turned out to be benign, meaning Pitt wasn’t recommended to undergo a double mastectomy or chemotherapy. “All I needed was a lumpectomy and radiation therapy,” she wrote. After radiation therapy, Pete returned with clear scans in January.
