An MRI showed the second mass turned out to be benign, meaning Pitt wasn’t recommended to undergo a double mastectomy or chemotherapy. “All I needed was a lumpectomy and radiation therapy,” she wrote. After radiation therapy, Pete returned with clear scans in January.
Later that month, Pete’s mother died in hospice care.
Unfortunately, Pete’s father died of cancer in 2025. She reflected on that time in the article, writing: “As my father’s body disappeared from view, I began to panic about my cancer again.”
