Amazon’s AI assistant Alexa + is getting a new personality. On Thursday, the company announced that it is expanding its user-selectable styles to include “Sassy”, which is only for adults. According to Amazon, before choosing to use the Sassy personality, users will be asked to check the additional security in the Alexa program.
The personality type will no longer be available when Amazon Kids is turned on, Amazon says.
The new channel joins others such as Brief, Chill, and Sweet, which launched last month.

When you change the Sassy option in the Alexa mobile app, you are warned that the Sassy interface uses natural language, so a security check is required. On iOS, this affected Face ID scanning.
An AI assistant explained his style to us as follows: “Sassy’s style is built on one foundation: help first, judge always. Every answer comes wrapped in a nice wrapper – it will answer your question, it will make you feel something first. Authentic, sharp, and funny – and somehow it’s more useful than useful.”
The Alexa app also warned that the style contains “sensitive content”.
However, further investigation found that this is not Amazon’s version of something Grok’s great AI companions. The AI agent said that the new system will not take place if it is immoral, hate speech, illegal activities, attacking a person, or anything that could harm oneself or others.

The move is the latest example of how Amazon is trying to make Alexa+ more flexible, as it reinvents the assistant in the era of artificial intelligence. By providing a different agent – including the most senior – Amazon is borrowing from AI, where companies have been testing tone, style, and people to make their agents like each other and like the user’s choices.
