Airbnb is launching a private car rental service


Airbnb announced on Tuesday that it is expanding its services with a new group of car carriers in 125 cities around the world. The company is partnering with transportation company Welcome Pickups to allow users to book private cars in cities including Paris, Bali, and Mexico City.

The travel company said it has been operating flights this year in Europe and Asia, where “thousands of tourists” used it and 4.96. Airbnb said that once you book a stay in a city where the service is available, you will see an option to schedule a private cabin to access the Trips list of the Airbnb app. Users can view cab booking information and make changes directly from the app.

“Airbnb’s services are designed to improve guest satisfaction, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive,” said Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s chief business officer, in a statement.

The company said it plans to expand the service to more cities and locations throughout the year. Airbnb started its own work group last summer along with expanding the experience. At the time, it offered 10 categories of services that allowed users to book chefs, cooks, meal prep, photography, massage, spa treatments, personal training, hair, nails, and makeup in eight countries.

In November, the company announced a partnership with Instacart allows visitors to order groceries before and during their stay select cities in the US.

With the new look, Airbnb is moving to a full range of offerings. The company has also been attempt to allow users to book hotel rooms.

During Q4 2025 earnings, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said the opportunity in hotels is huge, and will allow the platform to be part of the user’s journey, “no matter what the guest wants to be.”
