Weeks later to step down as CEO from food delivery service Zomato and its parent company Eternal, Indian entrepreneur Deepinder Goyal has returned with a $54 million investment in startup apparel. A templepart of what the 43-year-old previously said was that she had switched to “exploring and experimenting with high risks.”
Friday, Goyal he said in X documents that Temple raised funds from a group of friends and family from friends of the founders and backers of Zomato, at a cost of around $190 million. More than 30 employees participated in the same audit, he said.
Goyal stepped down as CEO of Zomato and its parent, Eternal, in January, to give responsibility to Albinder Dhindsa, who leads Blinkit’s fast-paced marketing team. The move marked a major shift for Goyal after nearly two decades at the helm of the catering company he co-founded in 2008.
Temple is one of the clearest voices in this revolution. The startup is focused on creating high-end apparel for elite athletes, an area that Goyal described as ideal for advanced technology.
In an interview in January with podcaster Raj Shamani, Goyal he explained Temple can be worn as a sensor designed to be placed on the wearer’s temple and continuously monitor blood flow in the brain.
In an interview on X earlier Friday, Temple said construction purpose which he called “the ultimate wearable for elite athletes,” saying the device could measure metrics that existing wearables couldn’t. He also described the interdisciplinary field of engineering, computational neuroscience, and brain-computer engineering.
The startup is entering a crowded and lucrative market, where companies like Whoop, Oura, and Garmin have spent years refining devices that track sleep, recovery, and sports. Whether Temple can differentiate its technology is an open question.
The push into the Temple is part of a major overhaul of Goyal’s finances. In October 2025, he said he did gave $25 million about his capital to another new business, Continue Research, which is looking for ways to prolong human life. He is also the co-founder of LAT Aerospace, which recently expanded into defense technology and acquired the startup Sharang Shakti.
Goyal made his name at Zomato, which he co-founded with Pankaj Chaddah and spent nearly two decades building one of India’s largest food delivery platforms before stepping down as chief executive earlier this year.
Chaddah left the company in 2018, as Zomato continued to consolidate its role in acquisitions, including to buy Uber Eats’ India business in 2020 it is Food delivery platform Blinkit – known as Grofers – $568 million in 2022.
Before Temple, Goyal also supported health and fitness startups, including UltrahumanA wearable manufacturer from India that competes with the Oura smart ring, confirming its growing interest in fitness and health technology.
Goyal declined to comment further on Temple.
