New South Wales Premier Chris Minns has also called for a royal commission into the Bundy attack, Australia’s worst shooting in nearly 30 years.
On Sunday, two gunmen believed to be motivated by “Islamic State ideology” opened fire on the Jewish holiday on the country’s most iconic beach, killing 15 people and injuring dozens more.
Since the attacks, Australia’s state and federal governments have announced a series of measures to combat extremism.

Australia will hold a national day of reflection on Sunday, themed “Light triumphs over darkness”, to mark one week after the attacks, with a minute’s silence at 6:47pm (0747 GMT).
The Australian flag will be flown at half-mast and Australians are asked to light candles in their windows in memory of the victims.
“Take sixty seconds out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life and dedicate it to the 15 Australians who should be with us today,” Prime Minister Albanese told reporters on Saturday.
“This will be a moment of pause to reflect and affirm that hate and violence will never define us as Australians.”
The Bundy attack was Australia’s worst mass shooting since Port Arthur in 1996, killing 35 people and prompting then-Prime Minister John Howard to introduce strict gun control measures.
