The push for LinkedIn profile verification is gaining momentum – and India is leading the way in 2025


As online platforms grapple with how to establish trust around the world and deal with growing concerns about authentication, the adoption of profile verification on LinkedIn is growing in 2025. India is seen as a fast-growing market for profile verification, highlighting how the world is growing in how digital networks work.

LinkedIn members are adding nearly 30 million credentials to their accounts each year, and will grow by more than 38% annually in 2025, said Oscar Rodriguez, vice president of trust products at LinkedIn. The increase follows the company’s announcement last week that more than 100 million users added one confirmation.

In 2022, LinkedIn he started to go out verifying profiles to provide clear signals of authenticity on the platform. It initially focused on verifying workplace or member information, including company email addresses, in the past expanding to government-issued ID checksand expanded to company websites and job listings.

The majority of LinkedIn members who have added verification to their profile have done so by verifying their association with a workplace, typically using a company email address or similar information, rather than verifying their identity.

About 60% of verified members verified their employment, usually using a company email address, while about 27% verified their identity using a government-issued ID, Rodriguez said.

India’s growth rate

By location, the US is the largest segment of verified users, representing about 40% of the more than 100 million members who have added at least one verification, the company said. India is following closely behind, along with other major markets including the UK, Canada, Brazil, and France.

While the US continues to account for the largest share of verified users, India has been LinkedIn’s fastest-growing market for profile verification, Rodriguez said, with adoption up nearly 80% in the past 12 months.

Earlier this year, the Microsoft-owned company launched its “Verified on LinkedIn” program, allowing peer platforms to display LinkedIn verification badges. Zoom is the latest partner in this move, joining companies like Adobe and G2. The company also introduced a self-service API to make it easier for other organizations to integrate authentication into their processes.

LinkedIn says profile verification is associated with higher engagement on the platform, with verified members seeing up to 60% more views and nearly 50% more engagement on their posts compared to non-verified users. Authentic company pages also tend to attract attention, capture higher impressions and grow followers, the company said.

“Verification provides a strong signal of authenticity on LinkedIn, helping to support authenticity and trustworthiness,” said Rodriguez. “Members with verifications have the opportunity to represent real people, as well as the verification services of the site, and employers remain loyal and secure.”
