Trim he announced Tuesday’s update AI glasses that will help you hear people talking better when you are in a noisy environment. The feature will be available on Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN smart sunglasses in the US and Canada, the company says. In addition, the glasses are getting some updates that allow you to use Spotify to play music that matches what you are currently watching.
For example, if you are looking at an album cover, the glasses can play the artist’s song. Or if you’re looking at your Christmas tree and a pile of presents, you can play holiday music. These additions are very difficult, of course, but they show how Meta is thinking about connecting what people see and what they can do in their apps.
The conversational focus, for now, seems to be helpful. It was first announced at the Meta’s Connect conference earlier this year, the feature uses AI glasses’ open-ear speakers to amplify the voice of the person you’re talking to. Meta says smartglass wearers will also be able to adjust the amount of magnification by moving the appropriate temple of their glasses, or through the device’s settings. This will allow them to set the standard to suit the current environment, whether it is a restaurant or bar, a club, a train station, or anything else.
How this feature works, of course, will still need to be tested. However, the idea of using smart devices as hearing aids is not unique to Meta. Apple’s AirPods already offer a A Conversation Stimulating Story designed to help you focus on the person you’re talking to, and the Pro versions just added support for a Clinic-grade Hearing Aid features also.
Although the conversation is limited in the US and Canada, the Spotify version is offered in English in many markets, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, UK, and the US.
The software update (v21) will be available first to those enrolled in Meta’s Early Access Program, which requires first joining. waiting and acceptance. After that it will spread widely.
