Jeremy Sisto reveals if FBI’s Jubal will be reprimanded after finale

“I think part of it was that he was encouraged by Sam… It’s very rare (and) very surprising to hear something like that from her,” the actor told us. “So it’s understandable that this guy who had let him down so much, you know, his life, you know, through his own demons, suddenly encouraged him to follow some pretty bad instincts that were fueled by revenge. I think that encouraged him to go further than he originally wanted to.”

Sisto noted that Jubal did not “take lightly” the torture scene and was “very frustrated that he had gone that far.”

“When I read something like this, I was on high alert, ‘Okay, how can we tell this story without losing Jubal’s identity? How far can he go for this episode while keeping the character the same?'” Sisto recalled.

The writers seem to have the same problem, as Jubal appears to be heading in the right direction in part two of the fall finale.

He stops himself from harming the first suspect and eventually turns him over to agents, then joins a ground team looking for the ringleader, who is planning a gas attack on a bridge in the city.

Jubal eventually found the arch-villain, and rather than leave him to die from the gas, FBI agents chose to pull him to safety.

“That was a very important moment where he looked back and decided, you know, he’s not a gangster crime fighter,” Sisto shared. “He believed in the system. He believed in what he was doing. He dedicated his life to it. It’s part of who he is. So he did come back.”

Sisto told us of the decision to return to his heroic self – something his son used as inspiration for his college essay before he was injured us Jubal will likely face no repercussions for his one bad act in the case.

Sisto added that in real life, agents would likely get into trouble for coloring out of bounds, but in Jubal’s case, he “foresees it” not being an issue. Plus, Taylor is awake and in good health, so Jubal needs to focus on that positive.

“There’s a really cool episode where danger hits all the agents’ homes in a very unique way that we’ve never seen before,” he joked. “So it was a lot of fun filming this episode.”
