Niagara Falls crash and the rescue that saved two Americans

The Iron Scow, a 107-year-old shipwreck that has been stranded above Niagara Falls since 1918, has moved downstream and is slowly breaking up.

Wrecked when two men nearly fell over Horseshoe Falls more than a hundred years ago, the ship has become a powerful symbol of the falls’ history and the power of nature.

In 2022, the barge broke into several pieces due to erosion. Jim Hill of Niagara Parks said the lifeboat’s bow was displaced last month and moved further downstream, and the boat is now “slowly deteriorating.”
