The AI Data Dance Boom could be bad news for some architectural designs

Changes to roads, bridges, and other infrastructure can be hit if the data center supports, According to Bloomberg.

In 2025, state and local governments sold more debt for the second year in a row, with experts predicting $600 billion in sales next year. Much of the money is expected to fund infrastructure.

Meanwhile, data from the Buleau Bureau says that it shows that private investment in data was an annual flow of about $41 billion – almost as much as infrastructure spending.

All of these jobs are vying for construction workers as the industry faces job cuts from President Donald Trump’s retirement.

Andrew Anagost, CEO of architecture and software development at Autodesk, tells Bloomberg “there is no doubt that the data center” absorbs some of the money.

“I can assure you that (construction) projects are not going as fast as people want,” he said.
