Fox Sunday NFL host Curt Menifee is weighing in on his co-hosts. Terry Bradshaw‘s future is on the show.
“This will never happen!” Menifee, 60, told daily mail Bradshaw will likely retire on Thursday, December 4. “They’re going to take him out in a hearse – he’s not leaving the show.”
Bradshaw, 77, has been with the show since it began in 1994, although he missed earlier this season due to illness, raising questions about how much longer he can stay on the show.
“It was built around him (Bradshaw) — he was the first guy they hired … he was the first guy this network put on the air,” Menifee continued. “I don’t think he will ever leave. Nor should he. He is the heart and soul of everything we do at Fox Sports.”
Bradshaw has been behind the microphone since retiring from the NFL in 1984. The former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback began his career as an analyst with CBS, alongside the legendary play-by-play announcer Verne Lundqvist Moved into the studio in 1990 and remained there until he left for Fox.
“I grew up watching Terry Bradshaw Howie Long“, Menifee said. “For me, it’s just amazing to be around these guys who are not only idols but fans that I grew up idolizing. “
He continued, “When I went back to my first year, those guys pulled me in, put their arms around me, hugged me and made me a part of the team right away.”
bradshaw has talk about retirement His recent absence has reignited speculation, despite commentators’ assurances to fans.
“In case you noticed, I won’t be on Fox today,” he shared via Instagram. “Just a cold. Everything is fine.”
During Super Bowl LIX in February, he told Denver’s 104.3 that he had decided when to resign.
“Before I left the hotel room, I told my wife, I was sitting there, and I said, ‘I have two years left at Fox. I’m 76 years old,'” he said. “It’s a young man’s game. I get it. Everybody wants their new guy.”
But he later walked back those comments. Although Bradshaw has two years left on his contract at Fox, he said he hopes to stay on until Fox hosts the Super Bowl again in 2029.
As Bradshaw considers his eventual retirement, he lends his support to the next generation of analysts, including legendary quarterback tom bradytransitioning to the booth last season.
“I want him to be great and I think he’s going to be great,” Bradshaw Tell US Weekly Only last year. “But we don’t know enough about him. Will we see a different side? Will he be funny? Will he be witty? Will he break down the game correctly? I’m rooting for him because TV doesn’t make it easy. You can’t lie to the camera because it’s going to catch it.”
Bradshaw added, “He’s exactly the kind of character TV needs. He’s responsive, witty, funny, likable, knowledgeable. When you listen to him, you feel comfortable. You like him.”
