BBC Russia editor Steve Rosenberg said Russian President Vladimir Putin showed no signs of compromise.
Earlier, Russian officials said that “no compromise” was reached during five hours of talks between Putin and U.S. envoy Steve Witkov on Tuesday.
Rosenberg said Putin believed that Russia had the initiative on the battlefield in Ukraine, so he could determine the terms of a peace agreement.
