Sydney Sweeney Feel uneasy trying to guess popular internet trends.
Sweeney, 28, appears on the show on Monday, December 1 The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. maid The actress participated in the game “What’s Behind Me,” where Fallon, 51, gave her clues to the background scenes.
With Sweeney’s back to the screen, viewers see three giants Ragdoll Standing in a McDonald’s drive-thru, doing “six or seven.”
“This is awesome,” Fallon joked as he prepared for the game. “Well, they’re three of the hottest purse-hanging dolls right now.”
Sweeney knew immediately that Fallon was referring to Labyrinth, so the late-night host turned to where the toy was in the scene.
“They were in a fast food restaurant and you can drive through and get fast food faster,” Fallon said, to which Sweeney correctly responded, “the drive-thru.”
Fallon then described the fast-food brand as a “Scottish burger joint,” which confused Sweeney. Fallon turned to describing the restaurant’s mascot, Ronald McDonald.
“Sorry, sorry! It has a clown. A clown as a mascot,” Fallon shared, which helped Sweeney realize it was McDonald’s.
However, Sweeney was nervous about saying “six-seven” out loud when Fallon described how labbs perform viral gestures that are part of the internet’s digital trend.
“I can’t say that!” she declared.
Fallon seemed to think she was referring to the number 69, which is slang for sex.
“No, no! You could say that,” he said, suppressing laughter. “Minus two! I guess, subtract two from what you said.”
While Sweeney understood what Fallon was referring to, she clarified that she didn’t feel like she could say “six or seven.”
“No, I can’t say that, this is the trend!” she said, with Fallon also saying it was a “number,” “not 66” or “68.” Sweeney finally gave in, “I know it’s 67.”
Fallon cheered Sweeney for doing the right thing and reiterated that it was okay for her to say that and that it wasn’t a “dirty” phrase. Sweeney shared that she saw a video of people getting into “trouble” for saying “six or seven,” so that’s why she’s being cautious.
“I don’t know! I’ve seen people get in trouble for doing this,” she said.
Clips from the episode were shared online, with many users confused as to why Sweeney thought “six-seven” was a bad thing.
“She has great ‘jeans’ but can’t say 6-7???” someone commented on The Tonight Show’s Instagram about Sweeney’s controversial collaboration with American Eagle earlier this year.
Another person replied: “So her bottom line is 67? Yeah yeah yeah💀.”
Sweeney has caused his fair share of controversy over the past year. This summer, she faced backlash for an American Eagle ad that used a wordplay on “jeans” and “genes.” The tagline was “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.” When the ad mentioned genetic traits, the Internet thought it promoted discredited eugenics theories.
In August, American Eagle released a statement after the backlash, “‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ has always been about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We will continue to celebrate how everyone can confidently wear AE jeans in their own way. Great jeans are for everyone.”
Three months later, Sweeney scandal resolved After sharing it publicly, she will not discuss it in publicity about her Movie Christie.
“I did a jeans ad. I mean, the response was definitely a surprise, but I love jeans. I wear jeans all the time,” Sweeney later told GQ. “Ultimately I knew what that ad was for, it was a great pair of jeans and it didn’t affect me in any way.”
Sweeney added that she was busy filming Euphoria Season 3, so she didn’t read the comments online.
“I think when I have an issue that I want to talk about, people will hear it,” she said.
