Matt Rogers broke his silence on his unexpected romance with below deckof Fraser Oland — including why he kept it from public view for months.

“He’s a great guy,” he added. “If people are interested, that’s great, I think that’s a good thing. But it’s been difficult watching my (‘Las Culturistas’) podcast grow. The tone in the beginning was that we were very honest about our lives. That meant I was talking about my boyfriends — whoever they were. I talked about my sex life a lot, and I talked about my feelings about romance a lot.”

Rogers has faced pushback from his predecessors in the past. “I’ll be honest, some of my ex-boyfriends didn’t like being portrayed on the podcast,” he said. “I’ve been in a relationship that ended very badly. I’m very sensitive about sharing information about other people. When it comes to me, it doesn’t matter. But when it comes to other people, it’s hard.”
How much has Rogers since withdrawn? He shared things about himself.
“It gets weird sharing intimate details of your personal life — even though people are used to you sharing that — but you’re in weird, mixed company right now. I know the podcast is big enough, but not everyone is listening because they love me or support me,” he explained. “There are people who are just casual listeners who (know) information that is very personal to me and others that could be damaging to something they don’t want. That’s something I have to think about.”
This is an adjustment for a public figure. “I love sharing my life with people who follow me,” he continued. “I do like a lot of people in my life and I want to share that. So it’s a fun thing.”
After sharing A glimpse into his romance Rodgers was struck by the level of interest in Olander.
“I thought maybe people who were mutual fans of his[would see that and care]because it was also the first time I’d ever really been exposed to another public figure in that way. It sounds annoying and disgusting, but when people can talk about something, some of them do it,” the podcast host recalled. “So this is new to me. But I understand why this happens.”

Rogers clarified that he had never intentionally hidden his relationship. “I’m not hiding it at all. I don’t want to be someone who thinks strategically about when is (a good time to share something). I just want to (be) casual,” he said. “We had been hanging around together for about three months before it hit the internet and no one cared. I’m sure no one cared in a matter of seconds, or if they already didn’t care, that’s 100 percent fine.”
since to understand below deck Stars, Rodgers is hopeful for their future.
“I really like this guy. He’s on my Instagram no matter what. Everyone I like is on my Instagram. I’m really, really lucky to have the people in my life who are my close friends. I have probably 10 or 12 people that I trust with everything, and that makes me very happy and lucky,” he shared. “They appear on the Instagram page and reflect my life.”
Rogers added that his romance originally started on social media. “Before you engage with people, you obviously see who they are. We did start talking on Instagram,” he said. It happens there, when you see someone who is also a public figure or participates in a reality show, you can judge someone by how they look on Instagram. But when you meet someone and they’re cute, it doesn’t matter what they do. It just became a thing. Sometimes it’s good to look for things you have in common, and I think our common ground has to do with being someone who might be perceived or followed. “
