Landman The show had its fair share of shocking moments, but fans couldn’t have predicted the show’s recent demise.
In the Sunday, November 16, episode, Ariana (Paulina Chavez) ended her relationship with Cooper (Jacob Lofland) When his cellphone died at work, he spent hours worrying about his safety. Ariana, still in mourning, told Cooper – who had just found success on the oil well – that she could not suffer another loss like the death of her late husband, Elvio.
Heartbroken Cooper accepted the decision, although he later spoke to Tommy Norris (billy bob thornton), about ways to repair relationships — hinting at a possible reconciliation in the future. Chavez, 23, told US Weekly The only thing is that she understands why Ariana decided to end the relationship.

“I really think she was obviously taken aback. The stakes are much higher now,” Chavez said of her character’s motivations. “She realizes what’s at stake for her partners who work in the oil industry, and she doesn’t want history to repeat itself. She’s really thinking about whether this is what she wants. Is he going to work with her?”
Chavez said Ariana may be focused on her own recovery, but she’s also thinking about Cooper’s needs. actress told us Ariana “wanted (Cooper) to be happy and do what he wanted to do.”

Emerson Miller/Paramount+While Chavez may understand Ariana’s decision to go separate ways, she hopes the fan-favorite couple can work things out. actress told us Cooper and Ariana’s romance is “the relationship we both want,” one in which two people are “not afraid to speak[their]truth” and “strive for something better.”
“I’m a hopeless romantic, so I would definitely be involved in their relationship,” she said when asked if Ariana and Cooper were over. “I thought, ‘Come on, they need to end up together,’ so I supported them as well.”
This season, Chavez got to go even deeper in her portrayal of Ariana, who, according to the actress, is “stronger, bolder, and more unapologetic.” Fans will get the chance to “get to know her on a deeper level,” see her go through “new stages of motherhood,” and “understand her expectations for her relationship with Cooper.” Ariana’s new story gives Chavez a chance to explore his own femininity.

“My approach is to really be able to fall in love with every aspect of being a woman,” Chavez shared of her performance.
The actress is not a mother, but she channeled her sister’s experience as a mother in her role as Ariana. she told us Since welcoming their second son in January 2025, she and her mother have visited her sister regularly.
“It’s like a tradition, I just go out and help (my sister),” Chavez said. “I work the night shift because that kid needs to eat every three hours and has a lot of diapers to change. So, I feel like this (show) is just a love letter to Latina women (and) mothers. And women who may be widowed and experiencing new love, that’s really scary and scary.”
