When it comes to recycling, few things can match aluminum. It can be reused many times, and is often cheaper than making new aluminum because it requires less energy. However only the third of aluminum used in the US is also returned.

Here’s how it works: The company uses an AI model that identifies different types of aluminum based on data from lasers, X-ray fluorescence, and high-speed cameras. The system should define a chip – about the size of a large potato chip – in a second. Siemer said: “Ten million is a long time.
