Mackenzie Cirilla She violated prison rules multiple times after being convicted in the fatal “Hell on Wheels” crash that left her boyfriend and a close friend dead.

Shirilla is the theme Netflix’s 2026 documentary collapsein which she breaks her silence about the July 2022 car crash that killed her boyfriend Dominic Russo with high school friends Davion Flanagan In Strongsville, Ohio. (Shirilla drove her Toyota Camry into a brick wall at over 100 mph, and although she was seriously injured, she was the only one to survive.)

Although Shirilla has always denied intentionally speeding up and driving her car into the building, she was found guilty of 12 felonies, including murder, in a 2023 bench trial and sentenced to two concurrent terms of 15 years to life in prison. Since then, Cirilla has been serving her sentence at the Ohio Correctional Institution for Women in Marysville, Ohio.

jail records obtained US Weekly The show revealed that Shirilla faced multiple disciplinary actions in prison, including a 2025 NSFW video call during which Shirilla allegedly flashed her breasts to a visitor who “twice put a dildo out of her pants.”

In October 2024, Cirila was also booked for possessing altered clothes and four “nude magazine photos.” Prison officials restricted her access to the commissary for 30 days as punishment for the crimes.

In December 2024, Shirilla was banned from recreational activities for 30 days after she was caught “dancing” outside the gym instead of exercising.

Mackenzie Shirilla fined for possession of ‘unknown drug’

In January 2025, prison guards booked Cirilla for possessing “a package of unknown drugs” and a personal photo “containing drug use.” She was cited for abuse of authorized drugs and “possession of any other prohibited items that have been altered or photographed without permission.”

“Cirella admitted to using the drugs and that they were not hers. She also had a personal photo that contained drug use,” the guard noted.

As a result of this violation, Shirilla was confined to a cell for 30 days.

Mackenzie Shirilla charged with concealing large amounts of contraband

In September 2024, prison officials accused Shirilla of hiding dozens of items that were found to be contraband. The contraband included food (four bags of nuts, three boxes of Jell-O and marshmallow fluff), fashion accessories (“earrings made from charms stolen from the gift room” and “gold and silver thread wrapped around a pen”) and unusual items such as “uninflated pink and purple rubber balloons,” two bottles of “mixed pills” and “a large pile of very small Monopoly money.”

Sirila denied theft but admitted “possessing any other contraband including any item knowingly held but which has been altered or without permission”.

In April 2025, Cirilla again violated the rules of the Ohio Correctional Institution for Women when she conducted “more than 100 video visits” with people “who were not supposed to visit Cirilla.” The unauthorized visitor was a “released former prisoner.”

Due to a visitation violation, Cirila suffered a month-long electronic device restriction.

In September 2025, guards at the Ohio Correctional Institution for Women reportedly discovered sexual content in some of Shirilla’s video calls. The report documents that “multiple inappropriate things occurred” during a video call, including “Cirila showing her breasts to a visitor.”

“The visitor displayed the dildo and finally at 22:53 the visitor displayed her breasts. Then at 7:42 at the 24:01 mark the visitor displayed her breasts and the dildo protruded from her pants twice,” the report states. “Then at 25:17 the visitor picked up his phone and walked into the frame naked. There were a total of seven video interviews between IP Shirilla and this visitor.”

Cirilla admitted unauthorized use of a telephone, mail or electronic device and breaching visiting rules. She was restricted to video visitation for 60 days.

Mackenzie Shirilla clashes with prison guards over wardrobe

In April 2025, Cirila got into trouble after an argument with prison officials over whether she was “appropriately dressed.” She allegedly told a male guard that her hoodie could not be checked because her shirt was unbuttoned underneath.

When the guard asked her to go into the bathroom to prove she was “appropriately dressed,” Cirilla quipped, “If he feels uncomfortable because of the way I dress, that’s his fault.”

A female prison staff member joined their inspection, but Cirila continued to clash with the male guards.

“As we entered the restroom, Cirila unzipped her hoodie and her national shirt was completely unbuttoned, wearing only her sports bra. She was instructed to button her shirt and then give me her altered hoodie,” the male guard wrote. “The entire time we were in the restroom she was extremely disrespectful and loudly asked if we were just concerned about her altered jacket. (She) received several conduct reports regarding prohibited clothing.”

Cirila’s altered clothes were confiscated and she was given a “new national uniform.”

This time, Cirila was punished for disobeying direct orders and disrespecting others, but the infractions committee vacated the guard’s ticket.

Prison staff believe Mackenzie Cirilla may have ‘potentially exposed herself’ to them

In April 2025, Cirila was cited for wearing a prohibited hoodie during a meeting with prison officials to discuss video visitation.

“This was at least the third time I addressed Cirilla while wearing clothing adapted from my unit,” the officer wrote in the report, later adding, “I wanted her hoodie confiscated as contraband. She went on to tell me no because she couldn’t take it off because her national uniform (also contraband) was undone from top to bottom and her bra would be exposed.”

A female prison staff member was brought in and confirmed that Cirilla was indeed wearing a shirt that was “fully unbuttoned and her bra was exposed.”

In addition to the contraband charge, Cirilla was charged with sexual harassment for “knowingly arriving at another unit inappropriately dressed and potentially exposing himself to staff.” The infractions committee ultimately ruled there was “insufficient evidence of intent” to sanction her.

Mackenzie Shirilla punished for alleged butt grabbing

A guard reported in August 2025 that they saw another inmate “removing his hands from IP Shirilla’s buttock area” as part of a “consensual sexual encounter.”

After being found guilty, she faced a seven-day restriction.
