The Justice Department is launching a criminal investigation involving E. Jean Carrollwho previously accused the president of Donald Trump Sexual abuse.
CNN According to reports, the Justice Department is investigating whether 82-year-old Carroll committed perjury in his testimony in two civil lawsuits against the president. Carroll previously sued Trump, 79, accusing him of sexually assaulting her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s and defaming her in 2019 when he denied the accusations.
The Justice Department’s investigation focuses on statements made by Carroll during a 2022 deposition. The reporter said her lawsuit has not received any outside funding. After news of the results broke, Trump blasted the ruling on social media.
