Fox News is reacting to a viral conspiracy theory claiming a Navy vice admiral was wearing a mission impossible– Like putting on a mask during a live interview to try and hide who you really are.

During his appearance, a shadow was cast at the base of the former SEAL’s throat, sparking the immediately viral claim that Harward was wearing a lifelike silicone mask in hopes of hiding, or at least obscuring, his true identity.
“Fox aired an interview with retired Robert Harward, former deputy commander of Central Command,” one social media user wrote. “I think the deep state does a lot of this to make it hard for people to figure out what’s going on on this flat earth.”

“Robert Harward being interviewed by Fox News does not mean he is dead, replaced or an alien. He was most likely unavailable that day,” wrote another.
Even prominent influencers and musicians have publicly questioned the lieutenant general’s appearance on Fox News.
“I need an explanation or I’m gonna feel like we’re under siege by mind control!” Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill wrote via X on Friday, May 22, reacting to the interview and the strange shadow on the Lieutenant General’s neck. “Wassup, bro neck!”
However, others appeared to be joking in their comments, poking fun at the viral claims and online conspiracy theories.
“That bastard isn’t real!” Meghan McCainprevious landscape co-host and daughter of late senator and presidential candidate John McCainwrote via X while sharing a clip from the interview, seemingly mocking Harward for not being who he claims to be. Fox News later issued a statement in response to the conspiracy theories, which gained so much traction online that prediction betting platform Polymarket began placing bets on whether Harward was indeed hiding his true identity.
“Earlier this week, Lt. Gen. Robert Harward appeared on Fox News Channel via a remote mobile camera operated by an outside vendor,” the network wrote in a statement. The former Navy SEAL has yet to publicly comment on the viral reaction following his Fox News interview.
