Spotify has launched ElevenLabs audiobook creation tool


Along with tools for AI-powered podcasts, Spotify on Thursday launched a new tool, ElevenLabs-powered AI for self-publishing audiobooks within the Spotify for Authors platform. The company said at its Investor Day event that the show will be launched in beta in June on an invitation-only basis, initially with English-only support.

The AI-powered audiobook community cannot lock authors to exclusive contracts, meaning they are free to publish their audiobooks anywhere.

The news continues Spotify has previously partnered with ElevenLabswhich allows authors to send audiobooks created on the AI-based platform to Spotify.

The music streaming service also previously had a partnership Google Play Books allowing for digital interpretation. However, it may have required writers to find new types of voice that sound better and more human, such as those offered by ElevenLabs. Spotify is also expanding its “Spotify for Authors” platform to support 10 additional languages, including French, Canadian French, German, Dutch, Latin American Spanish, Swedish, Finnish, Icelandic, Danish, and Norwegian.

At the event, the company introduced a new way for users to ask questions using natural languages ​​to find audiobooks. This summer, Spotify will also expand a feature that allows users to quickly create playlists podcasts and music including audiobooks, it said.

Spotify has increased its focus on audiobooks over the past few years and has managed to grow its catalog to over 700,000 titles.
