Flight tracking shows U.S. surveillance planes approaching islands as tensions persist

Mark Cancian, a retired US Marine colonel and senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), told BBC Verify that the reconnaissance aircraft’s repeated flight paths “suggest that the intent was primarily to detect ships coming from the south and secondarily those coming from the north”.
