Putin welcomed by Xi Jinping’s China, but returns without signing pipeline deal

Russia is keen to advance plans for a new pipeline, Power of Siberia 2, and hopes Beijing will make progress. The pipeline will carry more Russian natural gas from western Siberia to northern China via Mongolia, for Moscow, helping to make up for losses in European markets.
