How to use Google’s new AI to improve your search experience

[ad_1]

Pa Google I/O 2026 keynote, a technology giant revealed new skills in Searchwhere users can create, edit, and manage multiple AI agents to stay updated on interesting topics. The announcement is part of Google’s larger push toward AI systems that can react and support ongoing tasks rather than answering one question at a time.

Unlike traditional search tools that only respond when asked, Google’s information assistants are designed to work in the background, 24/7, helping users discover what they’re interested in without having to search for the same information every day.

Instead of providing a list of connections, agents can synthesize information from multiple sources, explain why something is important, compare ideas, and provide actionable insights. In many ways, assistants represent the next evolution of Google Alerts, the notification service that Google launched in 2003. However, these assistants are designed to go beyond simple notifications.

For example, someone who follows the stock market can create an information provider that focuses on specific companies, share prices, or economic trends. The agent can monitor market activity throughout the day, follow the latest news, summarize financial reports, alert users to major changes, and provide summaries and links to more information.

It can also help with everyday tasks, such as tracking airline prices for upcoming flights, tracking sports teams and current events, following the latest news, monitoring housing or the job market, and monitoring the weather or traffic.

To use the feature, users can open AI Mode in Search and enter quickly.

For example: “Notify me of nearby movie tickets for ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu.'” When something pops up, the Google app sends push notifications. You’ll also see your tracked topics in your AI Mode profile, where you can jump to monitor, clean up, or turn off alerts.

Information agents will be available this summer. The company is starting to offer them to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the US, and then to additional markets later.

In addition to this information, Google also introduced a a major overhaul of Searchincluding what it describes as an “intelligent search box,” the company’s biggest change to Search in more than 25 years. The new interface is designed to support longer, more complex queries. There’s also a new AI-powered query generation system that goes beyond traditional completion, helping users create more intuitive and event-aware searches.
