Lovely, an AI-powered software development platform, has helped Danish hardware startup, Atechwhich aims to introduce “vibe coding” to hardware design. Lovable was part of an $800,000 seed round that also included a16z scout fund, the Sequoia Scout Fund, and Nordic Makers.
In a chat with TechCrunch, Atech’s head of customer service, Gustav Hugod, said the platform’s functionality is simple. Users buy basic materials for whatever they want to build from Atech’s website. Then, they open a tab on the site, talk to the AI chatbot, describe the hardware concept they’re trying to build, and the AI tool generates code that helps them create a working prototype. Hugod said the company’s application areas are very broad right now, “from four-year-olds building cars to a hydrogen synthesis plant that needs efficient lighting.”
In general, developing any type of equipment requires years of experience or the acquisition of expensive but skilled engineers. But Hugod said that if “access to software has fallen,” so too have the challenges of building in the hardware industry. “Hardware, in a democratic country, should be available to everyone,” he said. The new headquarters will be used for research and development, marketing, and hiring.
