Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI has been hemorrhaging since its incorporation

Elon Musk’s newly revamped SpaceXAI is reportedly shedding top talent, with more than 50 researchers and engineers leaving since February, according to The Information. These outputs include important code leaders, international models, and Grok audio.

Competitors like Meta and Thinking Machine Labs are reportedly hiring former employees, and the company’s original team is shrinking to a handful of people. Since February, at least 11 xAI employees have left Meta, according to a report by The Information. About seven are left to join Mira Murati’s Thinking Machine Labs. TechCrunch reported earlier 11 of xAI departure declared directly after the merger, the merger two co-founders.

SpaceX acquired xAI – two companies owned by Musk – in February and installed new leadership at the company. Musk also named the joint venture SpaceXAI earlier this month.

Pre-training is the first step in developing new AI models, and many question whether the company is still committed to developing advanced models.

The report also found that Musk’s extreme work ethic caused some employees to leave — something Musk’s employees at his companies, including Tesla, complained about. A source who spoke to The Information said that Musk had set unacceptable times for training models, which led to the reduction of Grok.

Of course, several exits would have been driven by the desire to make money.

SpaceX regularly offers tenders for the crew to sell privately. Some may be confident that their investment is about to expire because of the company’s IPO hopes. When employees see economic change at the end of the tunnel, they are less likely to work for a company that puts too much pressure on them and may not create the leading role models they want to work for.
