The New York Police Department bulldozed more than 200 scooters, mopeds and motorcycles in Staten Island on Tuesday as part of the city’s crackdown on illegal and unregistered bicycles.

The NYPD said at least 5,700 “dangerous and illegal vehicles” have been seized since the beginning of 2026, a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

On April 1, a drive-by shooting occurred in Brooklyn. A 7-month-old baby was killed by a stray bullet. The suspect fled the scene on an illegal moped.
