Uber to open two campuses in India to support development of products, services

Uber is expanding its technology capabilities in India with new technology campuses and data partnerships aimed at supporting the growth of both products and operations.

On Thursday, Uber plans in detail to open two new campuses that will accommodate 9,600 people in Bengaluru and Hyderabad by the end of 2027. These offices will increase Uber’s existing services in the two Indian cities, which are centers for software development and infrastructure.

In addition, Uber said it did partnered with Indian conglomerate Adani Group to build its first data center in the country, which is expected to go online in the fourth quarter of 2026. These announcements were made during the recent visit of Uber Dara Khosrowshahi in India.

Uber currently employs about 3,500 people in India, and has said it will continue to recruit tech talent as it expands its AI-related businesses globally. The company is hiring to work on AI, machine learning, autonomous driving, and backend architecture.

India has become an important engineering and marketing base for global companies because of its vast software talent pool. For Uber, the expansion comes as the company seeks new areas for continued growth and invests heavily in AI, self-driving cars and autonomous vehicle technologies. Earlier this year, Uber invested $330 million in its part of India to support its movements in the country.
