Daycare teacher arrested after video shows her beating child

A daycare teacher in Nashville, Georgia, has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse after a video of her attacking a child circulated online.

After the videos were obtained, recorded by parents and circulated online, police launched an investigation into the allegations and Johnson was arrested two days later, on Friday, May 8. She has since been charged with four counts of first-degree child abuse.

According to the Nashville Police Department, there were four separate reports involving four victims. always. One victim was 3 years old and the other three were 2 years old.

It was unclear whether Johnson had entered a plea or retained legal counsel since his arrest.

“The safety and well-being of our community’s children remains one of our highest priorities,” Nashville Police Supt. Ronald Knowles said in a statement following the arrest, WALB reported. “We take allegations involving harm to a child very seriously and our officers work hard to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted.”

After Johnson’s employment at Happy Noise Academy was terminated, several parents whose children went to day care expressed shock at the situation.

“I didn’t see the video and I asked her. Did anyone hit you at school? She said it was my teacher. I said where did your teacher hit you? She said right here… and my stomach immediately started hurting,” one parent recalled of a conversation they had with their child in an interview with WALB. “I posted because something in me told me that wasn’t the only child.”

Happy Noise Academy did not immediately respond US WeeklyRequested comment on the case. However, the daycare is reportedly cooperating with Nashville police as the investigation into Johnson’s allegations continues.
