Richard Shimooka, a senior fellow at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute, a public policy think tank, said the Canadian Armed Forces can currently only deploy a few thousand troops at a time, along with a limited number of fighter jets. In contrast, the British military can deploy 10,000 troops if necessary, he said.
