Mother ‘changed’ Hilary Swank’s perspective on ‘discipline’

“Motherhood has changed the way I think about discipline,” Swank, 51, wrote on Instagram on Friday, May 8, along with a series of photos of the actress’ home gym. “It’s not about perfection, it’s about consistency — and letting your kids see you taking care of yourself.”

“This is something I’ve wanted for a long time and the next thing for me is I’m going to be a mom,” she said at the time. “And not just one, but two. I couldn’t believe it.”

Swank welcomes twins April 2023, Aya and Ohm. Since then, Swank admits it has been difficult to find the “me time” needed to exercise.

“My workout routine is a little different these days…mostly happening in the garage,” she wrote. “For 3-year-old twins, ‘making time’ to exercise isn’t a big deal. So we started figuring out how to be active together—in between naps, reading, swim lessons, and the chaos of toddlerhood.”

She added: “I’m back on set #yellowjackets – Very grateful – but it’s a long time. When I get home, I just want to be with my kids. So here’s our answer: a space that we can all use to grow with our kids, where we can not only exercise, but actually have fun. “

Swank shared that her husband “managed to design and build” most of her new home gym, along with a few “very ‘handy’ friends” who utilized “as many scraps as possible.”

Swank then detailed her workout routine, saying that sometimes she just has time to “lift some quick weights during nap time.”
