influencer Teagan Gerard Shooting the haters.
“I feel like I haven’t spoken to a camera face to face in a long time. I definitely took a step back a little “Obviously, I’m still live, but I’m not sharing as much,” Gerald, 32, said in a video shared via her Instagram Stories on Thursday, May 7.
She continued, “You know what, y’all? There’s a lot of haters out there, and it’s becoming more and more for me.”
Gerard primarily shares “quick and comfort” recipes through her “Half Baked Harvest” account, which has 5.4 million followers on Instagram at the time of launch.
“I just had to take a step back, but I’m back, you guys,” she said Thursday. “I’m excited, I feel good. I’m in Miami right now, just soaking up the sun, I’m working (and) everything. It’s been so good, and at the end of the day, I’m just here to share beautiful things with you. I’m here to share with you my beautiful recipes (and) the beautiful way of presenting those recipes.”
Gerrard’s upload sparked controversy around cultural appropriation, intellectual property, privilege and body shaming. She denies any intentional harm and emphasizes her appreciation of other cultures in her creations.
The influencer further emphasized on Thursday that she Wants to “share (her) life” and her followers.
“It’s very special to me and you know I love it so much,” she added, providing an update on her life since her hiatus from online. “I’m in Miami. I rented here for a year. I needed to get away from the cold, I needed to get away from Colorado and go to a really big, warm, sunny place. You know I love it here.”
Gerrard continued: “I love being able to work here and actually be able to see my family more. It’s so special and I’m excited to spend some time here and share it with everyone because I have a lot to share. We’re doing a lot behind the scenes.”
While Gerrard admits to being “proud” of her upcoming half-baked harvest, she’s also “sad” that she can’t say much on social media.
“Finally today, I was like, ‘You know what? I don’t want to do this anymore,'” she quipped. “I don’t want to be quiet. You can take it, you can leave it, you can criticize me all you want, but I love doing it. I’m just here to share a little bit of beauty and happiness, and that’s all I really care about.”
