Hayden Panettiere For the first time, he publicly revealed that he is bisexual.
“The first time I thought about touching on this subject was when I was writing the book,” Panettiere, 36, tells EXCLUSIVELY. Panettiere admitted that she avoided revealing her attractions to women in the past because she felt she was “forced to be perfect all the time” when she was younger.
“I wasn’t encouraged to be myself,” she said us. “I had never been encouraged to be myself, and then that time came and it felt like it became fashionable for people to come out, especially women, to say they were bisexual, or to like girls.”
Panette said she felt “scared” that if she came out earlier, people would think she was “jumping on the bandwagon.”
“Again, there’s always the worry about imperfection and what my team will think and what the public will think about it,” she continued. “It’s never the right time, and it’s a difficult topic to get right. I want to make sure that I really sit down, choose my words carefully, and be able to tell my story in an honest way that people understand. On one hand, it’s sad that I have to wait until I’m 36 to share this part of me, but better late than never, right?”
Panettiere added, “Now that I know this book is coming out and I’m choosing to share it with the world, I can easily say I’m bisexual. I can confidently say, yes, I’m bisexual. I said it!”

“But yes, I’ve explored it, but I don’t think I had the courage because I didn’t share that with anyone,” she noted. “I didn’t really have the courage to fully commit to it emotionally because if I did fall in love, it wasn’t something I wanted to hide. I didn’t feel confident enough, and I was too scared to really let that part of me explore that part of me.”
