The new ReMarkable Paper Pure tablet goes back to basics with a monochrome screen

After seeing the large market for tablet computers with color displays and Paper Pro and Paper Pro Mov smallE Ink tablet maker reMarkable is returning to its roots with a new monochrome device called Paper Pure.

The new, $399 Paper Pure is doing well monochrome 2 six years later, and it comes with very powerful hardware and modern software that makes it competitive in today’s modern market.

Paper Pure has a 10.3-inch display measured diagonally, similar to the reMarkable 2, but the new one is wider, which, the company says, makes it easier to write and read text. In particular, the resolution has not changed between the two tablets, being at 1872 x 1404 pixels with a pixel density of 226 PPI.

The tablet also comes with 32GB of storage, four times the amount you got on its predecessor, and it’s about 40 grams lighter, weighing 360 grams.

ReMarkable said the Paper Pure is 50% more responsive than the reMarkable 2, and offers 30% more battery life with its 3,820 mAh battery.

The company has added a lot of features to the tablet to make it compatible with modern production equipment, including support for web applications. Paper Pure allows you to sync your calendar, as well as take and share meeting notes. And if you send documents from cloud storage, the online communication service automatically converts it into a copy that can be read and translated only on a tablet. The company said it also comes with manual search capabilities.

Paper Pure integrates with Slack, too, so you can turn handwritten notes into shareable notes. It also includes Miro support, allowing you to share photos and more.

The Norwegian company said it is now planning to build the ReMarkable 2 solar system, but will still provide software updates and support to existing customers.

The basic version of the Paper Pure comes complete with a marker, and the $449 model gets you a premium marker, called the Marker Plus, which includes an eraser, plus a multi-colored hand folio. Users can pre-order the device starting today, and shipping is expected to begin in early June.

The company said it has sold more than 3.5 million devices to date, and has 1.2 million subscribers to its Connect service, which offers unlimited cloud storage, unique templates, and the ability to create links to share text or graphics.
