Sean Johnson Let fans have a glimpse of her style Andrew East‘s eldest son Jett’s passion for cross-country biking – though it’s aging her much faster than she ever imagined.
“Watching Jett ride on a real track for the first time cost me three years of my life. Thank you @fastfarmsmx for all the crazy guidance and grace you gave us! We were like a veritable circus doing all the wrong things hahahaha but Jett still said, ‘I want to do this forever,'” Johnson, 34, wrote on her Instagram Story on Sunday, May 3.
She continued, “And to every single parent and person helping us… thank you! This community is unparalleled! We had no idea what we were doing lol, just trying to help this little man achieve his dream.”
Along with the message, Johnson also shared a photo of Jeter standing in the back of a pickup truck and looking at a mini SUV. In a separate Instagram Story, Johnson uploaded a video for the track.

“First try. What you didn’t see…1: The first 30 seconds…we accidentally sent Jett on the track with the big bike. Not the kids. Everyone panicked. 2: Second try…in the right group…Jet went over the handlebars and was pinned by the bike,” she wrote.
She continued, “3: Next try… Andrew is now following on an e-bike. Jett went the wrong way on the live track. Andrew chased him. Very fast. Andrew fell. Jett fell. Parents everywhere were panicking trying to help. 4: Jett and Andrew were both knocked into the mud. Need help getting out. Lawwwwwwwdddd.”
Johnson noted in another video that when she and East’s son was one year old, he rode a bike without training wheels and owns an electric bike that he rides “fluently.” Jett has since had several birthday parties at various BMX tracks, she explained. After a girls’ night out, Shawn Johnson ended her night in the emergency room with her 2-year-old son, Jett. “Well…not the night we imagined lol, but we did great. Johnson explained that she had a passion for horseback riding as a child, noting that the timing of Jeter’s start competing was not “unusual” for a child.
“Today, on the other hand, was just a little bit of a crazy start because we just got thrown into it. That’s what you do. Trial by fire, almost,” she said, adding that Jeter had “all the precautions” and was “very good” at riding. “He’d never been on a track before.”
Johnson gushed about Jeter’s performance in racing, but noted that he gave “his mom a heart attack.” When Johnson’s daughter entered the video, the Olympian asked her if she would be interested in competing like her brother. “No,” Drew replied.
“I just want to say that one of the things that Andrew and I value as parents is that they wrote a lot of the rule books When your child is this ageand then they can start doing X, Y, and Z. We don’t believe this because of our athletic background. We trust kids to drive it. If the child is ready, the child is ready. Some people move slower, some people move faster,” she explained. “For Jeter, that’s true, he’s always set the standard. He becomes fluent in something and we move on to the next thing. “
Johnson said it all made (her) nervous about Jeter.
“It doesn’t make sense, he’s old enough to do dirt bikes and stuff like that, but he’s skilled at doing it and he’s good at it,” she said. “I really think it’s a little treasure inside his little body.”
